Metronidazole is an antibiotic medication that is used to treat various types of bacterial and parasitic infections. It is effective against certain bacteria, as well as some parasites such as Giardia and Trichomonas.Metronidazole works by inhibiting the growth and replication of the microorganisms causing the infection. It does this by interfering with their DNA and preventing them from synthesizing new genetic material.
